WEEKLY WRAP-UP! #25

Happy Sunday everyone! I have not completely disappeared but my cold relapsed again, and I had almost 15 days of it again. It was extenuating, and I am not completely out in the clean yet. And… since disgraces do not come alone, I am in a reading slump. I am so done with all of this! I just want to go back to my usual self!!! Argh! But… but at least I am still reading, even if less and even if I am harder to please than usual. So… let’s start with a recap of my week!

What am I reading?

At the moment I am trying my hand at Westside because I always wanted to read it, or so it seems, and I thought that maybe trying something a tad different than my usual could have been of help. I am not sure it was a brilliant idea, so far I am not in love with the book, but I am enjoying it, and it is still early to say, maybe I end up loving it! So far it is original, and it is not boring, so I can count myself lucky! And then I am reading an SPSFC book, because I am a tad behind with those, too. The Astral Hacker is a fast-paced and interesting book, even if it has a ton of YA tropes that do not make me happy. It is not bad, and I know that it is more an “it’s not you, it’s me” problem, so I am not counting this against it, at least for now. And so far I am still interested in it, so… not bad!

What have I read?

Cast In Sorrow is the ninth book in this series, and so far I am still loving it! We have an amazing and interesting new world here, with a lot of different cultures and races, we have intriguing characters and a lot of action and mysteries and magic. I love it! The Liar’s Knot was… not the right book for the period, probably. At the moment I decided to DNF it, because I didn’t care about the characters at all. And it is strange because I enjoyed the first book quite a lot! But… I didn’t care with this one and keeping track of all the intrigues and of who knows what, and who knows who knows what was just too demanding. It won’t be a chore if you are invested in the story and the characters but… strangely I was not. And then I read Honor Among Thieves. I loved the world-building here, and we have living and sentient ships, because they are living creatures and, at the same time, ships. It was so cool! And there is a whole universe to explore! But I wasn’t really invested in the plot or in any of the characters so, even if I did enjoy this one, I won’t read the sequel.

What Would I Read?

I have a buddy-read planned for this book in a couple of days, so I know that this would be one of my next readings. And I am pretty happy, because so far this series was fun. Banter, interesting characters, and a lot of action! I am sooooo looking forward to this one!

Blogging and Personal Life

On the blogging side, I have a ton of reviews to write, so I really hope to write at least some of them. In part, because I have some SPSFC reviews to write, and in part because before the slump hit me I had read some pretty amazing books that I need to share with you all! And I should start to work to the “best of the years” kind of posts but… so far I am lucky if I find the time to use the PC at all! I really hope to do better in these last weeks of the year!

On the personal side, there is no much to say, too. I am still recovering from the worst cold ever, and I am always tired. I am also not feeling so festive, even if Christmas is almost here so… it’s not really bad, but I am not at my best. I hope things would get back to normal soon!

Well, it’s time to present that nasty cold with an eviction note! 😉
Let’s hope that it will be enough to scare it away and let you enjoy the holidays…
As for the books, I’d like to try Honor Among Thieves because I enjoyed what I read (some time ago) from Ann Aguirre, and I’m curious to see how she fares in this partnership with Rachel Caine…
