WEEKLY WRAP-UP! #8

Hello and happy Monday everyone! I am a day late with this recap, but since it is my first day back from my vacation I thought that it was okay, and this post at least give me the opportunity to talk a bit about the books I have read in these past days. On one hand, I was hoping to read a tad more (just a tad, mind you), but, on the other, I had a great time, chilling out with my boyfriend and Ade, and we spent some amazing days together. And I have read some pretty good books all the same! So it is a win-win situation!

What am I reading?

I can’t believe it, but finally, I am reading Empire of the Vampire! And wow! Just wow! It is a demanding book, because it is a dark story, with complex writing, and I am loving it to pieces. And I couldn’t have asked for more. It is pure bliss! And I am also reading In The Field Marshal’s Shadow. And I really hope that this would lead me to continue this series in a short time. I have really enjoyed the first book in this series and I have read some of the short stories in there, before this collection, so I am quite ready to go on with the main books, too! And the Field Marshal is quite the complex character!!!

What have I read?

I have to confess that I was a bit scared by The Poppy War because with all the hype around it I was fearing to be disappointed by my own expectations. I was wrong, because the book is solid, and I had an amazing time with it! Obviously, I am continuing the series, and I hope to not let too much time pass before going on with it! Ogres was surprising and interesting, and it reminded me that I have yet a ton of books by this author to read, too! Black Magic Sanction wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t really good either, even if I was more interested in the characters here than I was with the previous two books. But even if I was a tad more interested I decided to drop this series because it wasn’t enough for me anymore. I really enjoyed it in the beginning, but now not so much. And then we have two romances, both of them ARCs. The Romance Recipe is a queer book with a lot worth in it. The story and the characters are not masterpieces, but the book is good and it is about some really important themes, like self-acceptance, self-love and it is interesting for the representation it offers. And then we have The Lady and the Bricklayer. Sure, I was thinking about letting the regency books rest a bit, but this one was sisters free so I decided to give it a try, and it was a nice surprise!

What Would I read?

I feel like space should be my next destination, so here we are with A Memory Called Empire! I really hope to read it soon!

Blogging and Personal Life

It is time to go back to blogging since my little vacation has ended. I don’t have anything ready, so we will see where my mind would take us. Maybe I’ll write some reviews (as I should!), or maybe I would write something else, but only time will tell!
But the vacation was amazing! The place we stayed at was a bit more secluded than we imagined, but we relax and took long walks in nature. We relaxed and he got to play and walk and stay outside a lot. We all loved our time there.

And that’s all for today! How was your week? And you reading?? Let me know!!

Happy reading!
S.

Thank you!! And I am loving Empire of thr Vampire but it is quite the chunky book, and the writing requires some attention (at least, for me), and I am saying that in the best possible way, it is an amazing book, but it needs time!

Yes, Empire of the Vampire is not an easy book to read, but it’s such a magnificent story and I too cannot wait for the next book in line! As for McClellan, both his series (set in the same world) are amazing, and I’m glad you’re enjoying what you’ve read so far 🙂

It is not easy, but it really is magnificent! And I really need to continue McClellan series because, so far, I am really intrigued by it. Here the problem is the same old, same old: so many interesting books and so little time! 😭

At the moment I’m reading both of them and it may not be a wise thing, because both of them are demanding books, not in a bad way, at all, but they need a lot of attention and time. But they are amazing and I am not really complaining here!!
