Hello everyone! I hope you all are safe and happy, and that you are reading some really good books! So, it is not officially Winter yet and we have to wait a month, given or taken, but I can’t wait anymore! I really want to try my hands at a TBR again, and since I was in a bad slump I have yet to read a ton of books that I wanted to read before the ending of 2021. I know that I won’t read all the books I wanted to read, but I can at least try and read some of them, right? And anyway, Winter is quite a long period so yeah, I won’t read them all before the ending of the year but maybe, just maybe, I will for the end of the season! As usual, the books are not in any particular order (but this time I divided them into some categories) and I am being overly ambitious here (again, as usual!)
Aside from the books that I have to read for the SPSFC (here is the list) I really hope to read at least some of these other books:

Most of these books are books that I wanted to read for the r/fantasy Bingo, and I have some time yet to try and finish it. But more than the Bingo itself there is the fact that I really want to read these books. And I really really hope to get to them. And the same can be said for the next five. I am so looking forward to them, and I can’t believe I have not yet read them all!

I was so excited and so eager to get started with these books. All of them. But, still, I haven’t managed to get to them. It is quite frustrating, but it is always the same problem: so many interesting books and so little time!!
ARCs:

I was a bad bookworm and I didn’t read as many ARCs as I wanted (and should have too!). Obviously, I am intrigued by all my ARCs waiting on my shelves, but these are the ones that I am more eager to start!!
Physical books:

I have a ton of physical books I wanted to read this year, but since they all are usually more demanding and I have less time for them than for the digital ones, I restrained myself and just nominated this two. I really really hope to read them soon.
Special Guests:

The Special Guests are books that I have started and then dropped but that I am not ready yet to let go. It may be that this time around I will decide their fate for sure, or they will wait a bit more for the right time. I don’t really know at the moment but I can’t write a TBR without at least mentioning them. Seven Deaths of an Empire is intriguing but there is a character that made me so mad. He doesn’t even need to speak. I just start getting mad and madder every time we see him. On one hand, this is a good thing for the author, I mean he creates such vivid and lifelike characters! And when you manage to move a reader like that, to make him or her feel so deeply for the characters or the world or the plot you create, well this is an achievement, right? But, on the other hand, I wasn’t in the right mood to feel so annoyed and irked every few pages. It was exhausting. So I decided to let it simmer for a bit and see if things changed with time. Let’s hope this is the case! Crush was a book I started while I was in my slump. One day something I saw on YouTube made me want to try and read something a bit trashy, if I can say so, with werewolves or vampires or similar creatures. I really really was in the right mood and so I went with it and started this second volum. And things were going pretty well until they weren’t. There wasn’t really something, it was just that my mood just as suddenly arrived, as suddenly disappeared. And so I decided to wait and go back to it later on. The Grace of Kings is another matter altogether and things get a bit more complicated here. I was mighty intrigued and I had some expectations for it, I was hoping to be hooked right from the start and immerse myself in something quite epic. But it wasn’t so. I wasn’t hooked up, at all, and every time I put down the book I was less and less motivated to pick that up. Maybe letting some time pass would help me out, but with this one, I am not so optimistic. And then, there is Rocks Fall. Everyone Dies. I started this book in September and it was the one I was reading when I was swallowed whole by the slump. So I decided to try again later. On one hand, I was a bit disappointed. It wasn’t as humorous as I was hoping (or it wasn’t as funny for me as I was hoping) but on the other hand, is pretty brilliant all the same! And Tower Lord had a similar fate. It is a re-reading and even if I was enjoying it, it is not as good as the first one (it wasn’t the first time I read it, either), and since I was reading it when the slump came I decided to just put it down and wai for a happier moment.
I know this is a really ambitious TBR, even more so because I am not back to my reading self but… I am getting there and I hope this list would help keep me motivated!
And what about you? Are you planning to do a WInter TBR? And what do you think of the books I mentioned here?? Let me know!
Happy reading!

TBRs always help me read more, so it’s a good thing that you made one! I’m also trying to read Empire of the Vampire next month, I have a feeling I’m going to love it and I want to include it in my best of the year list if I do. Good luck!

Our TBRs are ambitious by nature: there are so MANY great books we want/need to read that at least listing them in a TBR makes us feel as if we’re closer to the goal… 😉
Of the books you mentioned here, I’m reading Empire of the Vampire right now and I can tell you it will prove a very, very immersive one. Happy reading!!!

It is an ambitious TBR indeed, but that’s how it should be with TBRs! It’s a list of what we want, not what we have to read 😉
I’ll be interested in your opinion on A Master of Djinn and The Recollection. They weren’t big hits for me 😉 But, on the other hand, I really enjoyed Sixteen Ways and The Guns of Dawn! 😁
