WEEKLY WRAP-UP! #19

Hello and happy Sunday everyone! So, September is here, and this was its first week. And I am so happy! Sure, we are still in Summer but… not really, right? And I am so happy! Friday was my birthday, and even if I have to wait one week more before celebrating it properly (because of work, and things to do… adulting sucks!, but at least it would be a double celebration, because next week it will be my bf birthday too!) and take some time off, I am happy all the same!
And September is also Self-Published Fantasy Month, and it is just amazing to share some love!!!

What am I reading?

I think that Tower Lord would keep me company for a while, it is quite a chunky book, it is not addictive as the first one and I have less time to read at home in this period so… it would be a long thing. But I am not complaining. Even if it is not as good as the first one (and I knew it, because this one is a re-read too) it is not bad, and it is intriguing. I hope to find more time for it soon! And then there is The Thief Who Wasn’t There. I am almost done with this one, and I can say that it was a very satisfying book. Holgren is an amazing MC in his own right, and I am glad to have had the change to know him better!

What have I read?

I didn’t finish Fire Falling. It was just… not the right book for me, and I got an headache for all the eyerolls I done while I was reading it. I think I would try with another series by this author, but I will let this one go. I cannot say that it was a bad book, but it was quite predictable, and I wasn’t so interested in it anymore. Then I have read The Alchemist and An Amaretto and even if I think this is the “worse” of the series so far, it was a fast and entertaining book, and I had fun with it!

What Would I read?

I know that I have a TBR and that I should at least try to follow it, but… But I have to start this book ASAP! I received an ARC for it and I am so so excited! I need to start this one, and I would do it as soon as I would be done with Amra. I just need to read Scales and Sensibility because… how cool is it???

Blogging and Personal Life

On the blogging side, I will try my best to take part in Self-Published Fantasy Month, so there is that. Sadly, I am not really back 100% but I am trying my best and we are getting there. It would be really good if I manage to write some reviews too, but I am not making promises here! I don’t know yet what you will find on my blog next week, so… surprise!!!

On the personal side… this week was quite full, but not in a bad way. It seems like my boyfriend sister has found a home so I would have my home back all for myself (and my bf, and Ade, obviously) and this made me enormously happy! It is not that my “sister in law” is a bad girl, or that I don’t like her… it is just that I need for my home to be mine, and to not have people who don’t belong around for long periods.
I also had some things done around the house that were waiting for some time (I finally found all the right courtains for the windows, for example!) and that helped my mood considerably!
On a not so positive note, we had to take Ade to the vet, it wasn’t something big, he just needed some analysis done. The problem is that we go to a clinic, and there was a vet that Ade loved but it seems like he is no longer working full time there, he just go there from time to time and booking an appointment with him is almost impossible. Especially for small things, so that left the others vet, that are all nice and competent, but Ade doesn’t think much of them. And he is also a control freak (and I mean it, sadly!) so it is impossible for an unkown person to stay behind him.
I think you can imagine how well this went when you need to take some blood, right? So we have to sedate him, and I had to be the one to do the shot, because he was scared (poor boy).
But all went well, after that, and he just spent a day or two being pampered and spoiled.

And what about you? How was your week? And what have you read?? Let me know!

Happy reading!
S.

    A belated Happy Birthday! (it’s never too late for celebrations, I guess… 🙂 )
Scales and Sensibility is on my TBR as well and I can’t wait to get to it: Ms. Burgis’ books have the double charm of being delightful stories and of sporting really gorgeous covers – a feast for the mind and the eyes, indeed!

    Happy Belated BIrthday!

Poor Ade, my Leia needed some vet stuff recently and I had to carry her 30 kg labrador ass inside because she was afraid. I would’ve fainted if I’d had to give her a shot, I’m more scared of those than she is.

Looking forward to your thoughts on Scales and Sensibility I love dragons and austen
