WEEKLY WRAP-UP! #7

Hello everyone and happy Sunday! I hope your week was great! Mine was uneventful, but in a good way. I had some time for myself, and I enjoyed it immensely! And I have done some pretty great reading, too, yay!

What am I reading?

I have started the Italian edition of Troubled Blood. I didn’t know that they translated it (or that it was out), but the other day while I had a break at work I walked in front of a book shop and it was empty and it was calling my name. It was so long since my last trip to a book shop, and so I just give in and entered. And there it was, waiting for me. I couldn’t leave it there all alone. It is more chunky that what I was expecting, but I am not really complaining! And then I have started The Conductors and so far I am really, really enjoying it. When I started it I said to myself “I just start it and see how it is, but I won’t read long… maybe 10 minutes. 15 top!” And I have closed it after reading 80 pages and only because I had to go. It is quite captivating. And original.

What have I read?

Miss Bennet’s Dragon was a book that I finished last week, to be completely honest, because I was so captivated by it that I spent the Sunday reading it. And I have no regrets! Parsnips, Buttered was a funny reading. I enjoy Lycett and it was a good distraction. Sometimes I think he is a bit exaggerated but, all in all, I had a great time. Rust & Stardust was an epic fail. But the fault is all mine. I don’t know how it was possible, but I decided that this book, that is a sort of true crime story, was a sci-fi retelling of Lolita. I don’t know how this happened and I have no words. Really, how was it possible??? But since I was really not interested in the true story behind Lolita, it is a bit too much for me, I DNF it. And then I was in need of something good and without complication, so I went for a Murderbot’s novel, Exit Strategy was just what I needed and I loved it!

Siren’s Song was… not so good. I love Pritkin as a character, and this is Pritkin’s POV on the story that we read in Dragon’s Claw, this latest one was shorter and was about Dorina, while Siren’s Song was a more complete view on that part of the story, and even if I enjoyed some parts, because I like the MC, and the parts with Dorina were good too, it was just too much. Especially with the main series (and Pritkin is more on the main series than on the spin-off one) the author is overdoing. A lot. The books are just more messy, you can’t catch a breath and it is all too too much. And it is such a pity!!! Then I have read Karolina Dalca, Dark Eyes for a blog tour, and even if it is quite a immature book in a lot of respect, it was, at least, a fast reading. And it took me to some interesting places. Home: Habitat, Range, Niche, Territory is a really really short Murderbot’s novella. It was like a palate cleanser, and I enjoyed it quite a lot! And then I just had to follow the mood and read Fugitive Telemetry and it was so good! I really hope to write soon a review about these Murderbot’s stories, because they were amazing books!

What Would I read?

This was not on my TBR but, as I said last week, I was a really bad bookworm and I requested some new ARCs. And since I was lucky, I was approved and now… well, now I have to read them. And this was one of those books. Also, I am constantly repeating that I want to read more Tchaikosky’s books so… here we go! I would keep my fingers crossed, and I really hope to start this one soon!

Blogging and Personal Life

As I said before, this week was quite uneventful. I had some time off work, and I enjoyed it immensely. I would have loved to go somewhere, maybe to walk on some parks and such, but we are again in a sort of lock-down, so I contented myself with some stay-at-home time. And it was good all the same.

On the blogging side, I am thinking about writing a review about the latest Murderbot’s stories, since I have read some of them this week, and maybe I would try to take some time and plan some other posts, but we will see!

And what about you? How was your week? And what have you read?? Let me know!

Happy reading!
S.

Oh, I know what you mean when you speak about wanting to take a short peek at a book and then finding you cannot let it go! 🙂
And while I was aware of Fugitive Telemetry (love Murderbot!!!!) I did not know about Home, so thank you so much for bringing this to my attention!!!!

So glad you’re enjoying The Conductors, I loved it and also breezed through it a lot faster than I was expecting.
I’m really excited for Fugitive Telemetry, though it’s a bit strange that it happens before Network Effort, I wonder if that’ll be confusing for me.

Your reviews was just too convincing! 😉 And I really hope you would love Fugitive Telemetry. It is strange that this takes place before Network Effect, and since I have not read it yet, I can’t really say but I think that it won’t be confusing because it is quite a standalone story, if this makes sense to you
