Hello hello! I hope you all are safe and happy. Today I am here to try and take stock of this meme, that I have started last year. I have added a ton of books to my TBR thanks to the book community, and I loved it! (Even if my wallet and my TBR aren’t really so happy… but who cares?!?!) And sharing the blame around (or the gratitude, it all depends on how you watch the thing, really) was fun. So I would keep up with it this new year, too, but adding new books to the never-ending list of things to read is quite easy (and to be honest, I constantly add them, I am way beyond hope, sorry not sorry), the hard part is reading them… so how I fared in 2020?
Thanks to this meme I have added 57 new books. Wow. They are quite a lot!!! On the other hand, I didn’t do so well with the reading part. I have read only 9 of them, and one was a DNF so… yep, not so good. But I hope to do better this year! (The fact that I would keep adding new books and hence the list would grow enormously is just a minor detail, and has no weight in there!)

The Seventh Perfection is a very peculiar book, and even if it wasn’t the best book for me, there is so much going on for it, and if you are in search of something original, short but complex, well look no more, the right book is right there! Lord of Stariel was a quiet read, in a way. And I appreciated it. I was expecting something more, especially speaking about the characters. They are not bad, at all, but I was hoping to relate more to them. But I enjoyed the reading and I am really looking forward to the sequels! The Vampire Knitting Club has become my favorite cozy read. I love this series. It is ideal if you want to take a break with a hot cup of beverage and get comfy on the couch! And the… Shards of Honor. I have to admit that sometimes I live in my own small world (ok, most of the time, but it is not so prominent when we talk about books!) and I never heard of Lois McMaster Bujold before discovering this series. I don’t know how it was possible. But even if I am way way late to the party I am now fully committed! I loved this book, and I loved the sequel. They were amazing!

The Forest God is a hidden gem. It is short, but it has so so much. And it gives so much. It is just amazing, and it deserves a lot more love! The Four Profound Waves wasn’t really the right book for me, I was expecting more, again the main problem for me was the characters. I couldn’t really empathize with them as much as I wanted. But it is a book that deserves to be read, for a lot of food reasons. The Tethered Mage was an enjoyable reading, even if I had too many expectations for it. But I liked it enough to be interested in the story and in the characters. I hope to get to the sequels soon. And, last but not least, The First of Shadows. This is a very short book, too, but there is, again, so much in it! It is full of interesting characters, a good plot, and action! It was a really pleasant surprise!

This was the one that I DNF, sadly. I was quite sad to let this one go but… it wasn’t the right time. I had a lot of fun in the beginning, but then I wasn’t so amused by it anymore and so I decided to stop reading it. But never say never! I can always change my mind later on.
That’s all for today! Have you read some of these books? Or do you have them on your TBR? Let me know!
Happy reading!
S.
Interesting books you added to TBR.

The Vampire Knitting Club is a series I’ve wanted to start too. Maybe this year?

Glad you found some new books through the community! The Tethered Mage was a ‘meh’ book for me, but I LOVED the other two so much that it’s become one of my favorite series. Hope you get a chance to read the sequels. 🙂

I would read them for sure! I am not sure on the when part because, as always so many books and so little time, but I want to continue the series!

57 is quite a lot of books, but you don’t have to worry about the reading process: the beauty of books is that they don’t have a “best before” date, and can be “consumed” when you think it’s the best time for them 🙂
Have fun!!!

“my wallet and my TBR aren’t really so happy… but who cares?!?!” Hahaha that’s the spirit 😁 I’m glad you found some new reads! I’d tried to read the Seventh Perfection last year but then I realized it was one of those books that you have to be in a specific mood for, so it’s on the backburner for now. And I REALLY have to try the knitting vampires!! I know Lisa loves them too lol

I agree with The Seventh Perfection, it is really peculiar and you have to be in the right mood for it. And it was Lisa’s fault for the knitting vampires!!! 😉
