December WRAP-UP!

Hello everyone! I am back from my mini-hiatus, that was longer than expected, sigh! I was in dire need of some time off! But now I am back, and I cannot wait to read all your posts I missed in these past days! And I would start this new year with my last monthly recap… ready?

Books read: 16 + 2 DNF + 3 short novellas + 12 manga and graphic novels
Physical books Vs ebooks: 2 vs 14
ARCs: 7

The Really Really Good Ones

Cast in Silence is the fifth volume of this series, and so far I am not disappointed in it. I am always eager to go back and see what our characters would do next! It is fascinating, with a rich world-building and some good characters. And I am so in love with it! Brigands is the best anthology I have read this year! I loved almost all the stories in there, and I had a really great time with it! And then we have Three Mages and a Margarita. This is the first book of the series, and I cannot wait to read the sequels. It was so much fun!
And then there are two really short stories, that I loved. Leaving the #9 was so hunting, and it is so well written! I could really empathize with the MC! And Heads Will Roll was short and fun. And it remembered me about this series. I have read and really enjoyed the first book ages ago. And then nothing. But now I have it again on my radar!

The Really Good Ones!

Spellmaker is the conclusive volume in this duology, and it was way better than the first book. Mind me, I enjoyed the first one enough to continue the series, so it wasn’t bad, but this was way better! It was more organic, more balanced, and we get a lot happening! Will My Cat Eat My Eyeballs? is fun and instructive. You can learn something out of it, and I appreciated it quite a lot. And then we have Crochet And Cauldrons, that is the third book in the series. It is so cozy, and fast-paced! I really enjoy the time I spend with this series.

The Good Ones!

Undead and Uneasy is the sixth book in this series. After reading the fifth one I wasn’t so convinced to go on with this series, so I decided to try my hand with the next in line and then decide what to do. But I have not decided a single thing. Yes, I am falling out of love with this series, but this one wasn’t as unnerving as the fifth one, so I think I would go on, at least with the next one. The Innkeeper’s Daughter was an enjoyable reading, and I appreciated it, but it was far from perfect. Spellbreaker wasn’t bad, as I was saying before, but… it takes forever for something to happen, and I didn’t really care for the characters here. Il re di denari is an Italian Thriller, and… I was hoping for something better. It is not bad, but… not so good, sadly. But it was a read that kept my attention alive.

The Boy Who Walked Too Far was an interesting and compelling reading, but sadly it wasn’t the right one for me. It is a very imaginative book, and it is full of wonders, but it was too dreamlike for my tastes. Foundation And Empire was an interesting reading, but it wasn’t as good as the first one, at least for me. To Hold Up The Sky was really interesting, and I loved some of these short stories. I loved the first half of it, and I found something interesting in every story. And then, last but not least, The Lord of Stariel. It was a pleasant and enjoyable reading, and I am looking forward to the sequel. I didn’t love it, even if I was expecting to, but it was a nice book, and I enjoyed my time with it.

The Disappointing Ones!

I was expecting so much from both of these books, and I ended up disappointed. Sigh! With Thieftaker it was a thing of personal taste, overall. Yes, it is not a perfect book, but if this kind of MC is the right one for you, you would enjoy this book quite a lot. Sadly he wasn’t the right one for me. And even if I loved the setting and the era, I didn’t enjoy it as much as I was hoping. The other book, instead, was quite… bad. We get assassins and dragons in space, and it manages to be boring. And we have space pirates too. I really don’t know how it was possible. It is astounding, really. And so so disappointing!

The Dnfed One!

Leather And Lace was so intriguing, but… not the right book for me. It is the right book if you are a fan of the tv show Supernatural, because it is almost a fanfiction. If you are not the biggest fan of the tv show, on the other hand, you would find it quite boring. Sorry! And then I decided to let go Mo Dao Zu Shi. I enjoyed it, as far as I have read. And I was almost halfway through it. It was fun, and sweet and fun. But… I don’t know, I just fall out of love. Maybe I would try my hand at it again, never say never, but for now I would let it go.

The Manga and the Graphic Novels!

I have read, and loved, six volumes of Black Butler. I really love this manga. I love the art, I love the story, and, overall, I love the characters. It was pure bliss being back with them all! And then I started a new series, Spy x Family, and it was an amazing surprise! I am having a great time with it, and I have read so far 3 volumes. I hope to continue it soon! Love & Pajamas is the sweetest! And it is fun, and cute, and so real!! I loved it! Candy Hearts is nice, even if I was expecting something a less cynical. But it was fun! And last, but not least, Heartstopper. It was cute, and sweet. And I finally understand what all the hype was about. I enjoyed it quite a lot, but I don’t honestly know if I would continue this series.

Series:
Finished: 1
Continued: 4

Well, I could have done better, but it wasn’t so bad, right? And I have to say that I am satisfied with my series reading this year. Yes, I could have done more but… I did a good job out of it!

Thank you!! ❤️ And yes, it was a really good month!! And Brigands was just sooo good!! It has a lot of different stories in there, and I may be biased because thieves, assassins, con artist and similar are favorites of mine, but it was just so good!!
