Hello hello people! I hope you are spending an amazing Sunday! Christmas is coming (and I really cannot wrap my mind around it… how it is possible that Christmas is almost here?? And yet it seems that we are in 2020 since ages… this year my sense of time is really awful!). Anyway, it was quite a busy week, reading wise, and quite atypical, I am mood reading my way through the month, and I am really really happy about it!
What am I reading?

I have just started both of my reading, so I cannot say much about them, but Spellmaker is the second and final book of this new duology by Charlie N. Holmberg. I have read the first one last week (and I cannot believe I am continuing this series so soon!!!) but I quite enjoyed it. I didn’t love it, and I am not on the way to become a fan of this author, but I enjoyed it enough to continue the series (and ok, I am curious and I want to know what would happen next!) so here I am! And the I have started the Italian edition of Blood of An Exile. This was one of those spoor of the moment thing. The other day I had a really really long break at work, and I used it to go and find a Christmas present for my boyfriend (I bought something online, but it seems like it would be delayed, so I went to find something to give him on the day of Christmas, sigh!) and I saw this book there. And… I wanted to make a gift to me too, so here we are! I have just started it, but so far so good!
What Have I read?

Il re di Denari is an Italian thriller, and to be honest I was expecting more from this one. It wasn’t readlly bad but… it wasn’t so goo either. I was hoping for something more gripping, but it was a high and low, and I didn’t love the characters either so… not bad, but it could have been better, way better! Spellbreaker was a fast and really enjoyable reading. It wasn’t well balanced, because the beginning is quite slooooow, it takes forever for something to happen, but it was enjoyable all the same. The Innkeeper’s Daughter was another enjoyable reading, to be honest, this book left me with the need to vent a bit, but it was an enjoyable reading and I appreciated it. And then we have Will My Cat Eat My Eyeball? I think this would be the last non-fiction book for this year, but I appreciated it a lot. It was fun and interesting!

I know, I know, there are a lot of titles in there! But the books from the first group are books books, these one in this second group are all short titles! It seems like now that I am mood reading, and that I don’t have TBR to follow, I am making indigestion of graphic novels and manga. I have read volumes 2 and 3 of Spy x Family, and loved them both! This manga is just so cute! And we have spies and assassins in there, too! And then I have given in to my “romantic side”, because I have read Heartstopper Vol. 1, because I was curious to know what all the fuss was about, and it is really a sweet volume, that’s for sure. And then I have read In Love & Pajamas, and I have to say that this comic is talking about me and my bf, for real!!! And it was just so sweet and funny! And then I have read Candy Hearts. It is more cynical, but it was fun too. All of those were lovable and I enjoyed them so much! But then there is a little spot on all this joy: The Interstellar Slayer is a very short and fast book, but it was a big disappointment! The idea behind it was amazing, but the book is just boring! I think that the main problem here is the lack of length. The author tries to cram too much in too few pages.
What Would I Read?Ā

I don’t know what I would read next, since I have just started both of my current reading, but I am feeling like going on with this series, since I have missed it so much! So… I don’t know what my next book would be, but I hope to read at least one (or maybe two) volume of Black Butler!
Blogging and Personal LifeĀ
Last week, on Sunday, we decided on the spoor of the moment to go and visit some friends, since they changed the lockdown laws. So we went in another city and meet with some friends (we stayed in a park, since it was a really pleasant day and it was more safe). It was nice, even if a tad stressful, because Ade is not used to see so many people around and he wants to go and explore and meet new people and dogs. We tried to take him around with us everywhere, or almost everywhere, but with the lockdown it wasn’t an ideal situation. So we have to work harder now, and it is a bit stressful. But it was a really good day! And, if doesn’t happen anything else, while you would be reading this post we would be visiting my parents. I have to bring some gifts to them, and it is good for Ade too, so let’s hope!
Also, this week we finally started to try him, with an expert. We did the basis ourselves, but we need a tad more obedience from him, because he is big and so it is a matter of security. He is the sweetest puppy, mind me, but he is big nonetheless!
On the blogging side, I have a couple of reviews to share with you, and I was thinking about some book tags! I have see some of them around, and they seem great so I may try my hands at them, too. I wanted to write the “best of” and “recap” post but I keep procrastinating because “what if I read something that should be added to one of those lists?” and so here I am, waiting for the right moment!
And what about you? How was your week? And what have you read?? Let me know!
Happy reading! S.
I can’t believe its Christmas this week either. And I’ve been putting my best of the year list together and the books I read in January seem like I read them years ago! Its so surreal. I hope you have a lovely holiday!

Oh my, that happened to me too! The other day I was reading a post in which they talked about The Goblin Emperor and I was thinking about how much I loved that book, and that I remembered it well enough even if a lot of time passed. And then I realized that it wasn’t really a lot of time, because I have read it this year and I was awestruck by the realization!! It felt like ages ago!!
Thank you, and I hope you would have a lovely holiday too!!

Hope you enjoy your reading this week. Curious what you think about Spellmaker. Holmberg writes FAST. Lol.

Thank you! I devoured that book! The first one was quite slow but the second one flew! I think that it would have been better, in my opinion, as a single book than a duuology, but I enjoyed it!

Yeah, I do think the second one was quite fast paced!

Blood of an Exile was a book I skipped on for now because I had too much going on, but I’ve heard good things about it! I’m reading The House in the Cerulean Sea and enjoying it!

I am sadly reading Blood of An Exile here and there, 10 pages now, then 5 pages, other 5 pages here, and 5 there… It is a tad maddening because I am enjoying it but I haven’t find some time for it, still… But I am enjoying it anyway! And I am so glad you are enjoying The House in the Cerulean Sea!!!

I usually take forever to continue series so I’m impressed it only took you a week to continue on with Spellmaker! :O
I can’t believe Christmas is this week, this year makes no sense LOL.
I have just started The Vela, a Serio Box story co-written by Yoon Ha Lee, S.L. Huang, Rivers Solomon & Becky Chambers. I’m too early to say if I’m going to enjoy it or not but I hope I’m going to love it! š

I usually take my sweet sweet time with the series, but not this time! And I am so proud of myself!! š
The Vela seems intriguing! I’ll wait to know what you would think of it!

The cover for Interstellar Slayer looked so promising, as did the mention of “Space Assassin”, so it was very disappointing to learn that the book turned out to be boring! It would take a great amount of effort to ruin a story about an assassin….

And the worst thing is that we have space dragons too!! And it was just all so so boring!!! ššš
