WEEKLY WRAP-UP! #23

Hello people, and happy Sunday! I hope you are feeling well and you had a great week! I am quite happy because this weekend I managed to relax and unwind a bit. And I needed it!

What I am reading?

My brother gifted me with the Italian edition of Senlin Ascends for my birthday, and I just had to start it! To be completely honest this is not my kind of book, because it is very Kafkian (and sorry, but I am not a fan of Kafka) and too dreamlike for my tastes, but I am curious to see what would happen and what the author create, because the worldbuilding is really something! And then I have started Orconomics. I have finished my TBR for the Self-Pub Fantasy Month (ok, almost finished, I have to read a book yet, but it is a physical one, and this spot is currently occupied by Bancroft’s book) and since I just posted a list of self-pub books I want to read, I have decided to choose a book from there. So far it is a fun reading!

What I have read?

This week was mixed, reading wise. Because I DNF two books, sadly, and read two really short ones (well, one of them was a novella). Never Die and Graves of Wrath are the DNF. Sadly they weren’t for me, they couldn’t keep my interest alive and so I let them go. So I tried something a bit different, and I have read Weird Things Customers Say In Bookshops. This was a fast and funny read, and I appreciated it a lot! And then, to go back to the theme of the month, I read The Best Laid Plans, which is a short novella prequel of a series that I have mentioned here. I loved this one and now I can’t wait to read the main series!

What would I read?

I really hope that my next reading would be The Sword of Kaigen, maybe this time it would be the right time for it! And I am also trying to finish my Summer TBR, reading a book here and there between the others, and I am doing good with that too, so I hope to start Heroes at Risk soon, too!

Blogging and Real Life!

This week seemed never-ending to me, but luckily I had a good Saturday, and I hope Sunday would be good too! I need some time to unwind and to just read and relax. Sometimes adulting can be really stressful, and some time off is just amazing!

I have some reviews to write since I managed to read a lot of books this month, so I hope to write them in the next week! Now I am off, I have to read!!!!

And what about you? How was your week?? Let me know!

Happy reading!
S.

Yes, it sounds almost planned out!! And I am appreciating Senlin Ascends because it is original and complex and imaginative but… I am not enjoying it enjoying it, to be honest. But I am only halfway through it so there is hope yet!!!

Yes, the past years I tried hard to finish all the books, but my stubbornness wasn’t a good thing and I am quite happy to be able now to let some of them go! And Senlin is quite peculiar and highly original but… It is not working out the best for me, at least for now!

I know what you mean about Senlin’s writing style, I went back and forth about how much I enjoyed it, there were parts I found fascinating and other parts I found slow. Too bad you bounced off of Never Die, I really enjoy that one! I’m starting Sword of Kaigen this week, so far, so good!

Senlin Ascends is unique and original, but I thin it is not the best one for me, sadly.
And Never Die started with a bang, because I was captivated from the first sentence. The problem was that my fascination started and ended with that… I couldn’t find in me to care about the characters or the story, but I cannot say what went wrong!!
And I am glad you are enjoying The Sword of Kaigen!

I wasn’t so interested in it, to be honest, but I was a little curious and since I was in need to make a short list of titles that are translated in Italian, that I haven’t read and that my brother could also like (we try to gift each others with books that we both want to read, usually) I added this one to the list and here we are. But sadly, I am not in love with it

I have to dive into the Books of Babel universe myself but I hope that your journey with the first one won’t be too bad by the end of it. 😮 I also just recently got my hands on a copy of The Sword of Kaigen and hope to get around to it this year hahah It just seems soooo promising! 😮 Happy reading!
