AUGUST WRAP-UP!

Hello people! How are you? I am looking forward to September, because it is one of my favorite month, and because usually it means that the Summer is ending… I really hate the hot weather! And September is also Self Published Fantasy Month!
So I am here wrapping this month around a bit earlier, because I don’t think I would finish another book before the ending of the month, and I am looking forward to write some post to celebrate the Self Published Fantasy Month. I have some reviews to write, and some recs post too… so let’s start with this recap!

Books read: 12 (1 DNF)
Physical books Vs ebooks: 5 vs 7
ARCs: 4

The Very Very Good Ones!

Those three are the best books of the months, and this wasn’t a big surprise. The first two books are Italian mysteries, Il Morso Della Vipera is the first one in a series by an author that I love. To be honest the first series was better for me, but this one is really really good too! Il Destino Dell’Orso is the second in a series, and I loved the first one so I had some expectations for this one. And I am happy to say that it didn’t disappointed me in the least. The Unkindest Tide is the 13th in the October Daye’s series and it is about one of my favorite characters, so… I enjoyed every single page of it!

This book was quite surprising, and it is highly original. I enjoyed my time with it, and I hope to write a review really soon, because I want to share it with you all!

The Good Ones!

All those ones were re-reading, because I wanted to re-read some of this series before going in with the newest one.

Sucker Punch is the latest addition to Anita Blake’s series. This is my guilty pleasure, but I think I am growing tired of it. This one wasn’t as addictive as I was hoping, and even if I enjoyed the reading, mostly because we have Ted and Otto in there, well… I was hoping for something more. White Trash Warlock was a nice reading, with an original worldbuilding, but I really suffered for the MC, who is treated so poorly by his family. It was so maddening sometimes! But, all things considered, was a nice book. And then there is Air, Sylphs, Spirits and Swan Maidens, that is an anthology all around the element of Air. And it was quite the original work, with pieces of poetry between the short stories.

The DNF One!

I haven’t gone much far with this one, but on one hand the idea and the worldbuilding were both interesting. The thing is that it couldn’t catch my attention. I can’t say what went wrong, but I didn’t sympathize with the characters and I wasn’t interested in it. Every time I putted it down I couldn’t be bothered to pick it up again, and so in the end I decided to just drop it.

Series:
Finished: 1 last published volume
Continued: 2

Since in Septemeber I would try to concentrate on Self-Pub books, and all the books that I want to read, or almost all, are the first in a series, I think I should try my best in October to be better with the series… let’s see how it will go!

My Reviews!
Air: Sylphs, Spirits and Swan Maiden edited by Rhonda Parrish

I wasn’t very good with the review this month, but I hope to do better the next one!

And what about you?  And have you read some of the books I have mentioned? And what have you planned for September?? Let me know!!!

Happy reading!
S.

Clicked on this immediately when I saw October Daye (eyes emoji)

I’m really glad you loved The Unkindest Tide, it was SO GOOD. My pre-order for the new book is on its way and I’m very excited about it. I hardly see anyone blog about or read October Daye!

I don’t know any other books, but Air, Sylphs, Spirits and Swan Maidens sounds really interesting and possibly up my alley as well.

Another October Daye’s fan, yay!!! 🎉 This series is just so good, and it has it all: plot, action, fun, moving moments and amazing characters and yet we do not see much of it around, sadly!!
And I hope to read the next one soon! I have some self pub and indie books in program but I am thinking about snicking this one in all the same because I am just so curious!!!

I was very lucky! And White Trash Warlock is a nice book, but I don’t have enough to say about it, sadly 😭 so I have posted a short review on Goodreads but I won’t write one for the blog. I am sorry, because it was an ARC but… I don’t really know what to say about it!

I cannot disagree with you! I am keeping up with it so far because all things considered I like Anita, and some of the others like Ted and Nicky but… But I can’t say much more about good things in this series, sadly…
