THE GREAT SERIES READ PROJECT! Mid year check point!

Hello people! How are you and how are you going? Since we are in June (and I know that I repeat it at every post, but I really can’t wrap my mind around the fact that we have reached the mid of the year, argh!) it seems right to try and see how I have managed, so far, with this amazing project!
Thanks to Realms of My Mind for this amazing idea, and if you want to know more on this project, click here!
And now let’s start!

I have a page on the blog dedicated to this project, and it is divided in two parts: the first one is a list of series that I am actively trying to continue (because I own them, if they are physical books, or because I have them on my e-readers. I have some sequels on my digital library that aren’t yet on the device, and those ones are on the second part of the list), and the second part is a list of series I want to continue, and that are next on the line, but I may not own yet the books I need to read, or I may own them, but haven’t yet put them on my e-reader (because it is pretty full at all the given times, and I try to not add too many. We can discuss where the line of “too many” is drawn, because I think I am way beyond that, but there is a discussion for another time!).
So, in this post I would check how many series I can delete from the first list (because I have finished them, yay! or because I have reached the last volume owned, in this last case I won’t delete the series, just change the list it is in)and maybe move some series from the second list to the first one. I know, this was quite a long explanation, but I am, finally, ready to start!

Series Finished:

I have finished 4 series since the beginning of the year, and 3 of them I finished after starting this project, yay!

These three would be deleted from the list and I am really excited to be able to do so!! It is just so satisfying to finish a series! And I don’t really know why I don’t do it more often, bad bookworm, no cookies!

Last Published Volumes:

Since the beginning of the year I have reached the last published volume, so far, for 5 series, and 2 of them I read thanks to this project, so all of those would be moved in the second list!

The only exception is Fire & Water, because we don’t really know if this is the last published volume or if it is the last volume of the series, so I won’t add it on the list and wait for the things to become more clear. In any event… I am so glad to be able to move some series around!

Dropped series:

Sometimes it happens that a series no longer interest you, or that you really enjoyed the first volume but then the magic disappear and you found yourself bored or not interested anymore, and so, sometimes, we have to say goodbye to some series. And this has happened to me once, since this project started, and twice from the beginning of the year.

The other series I moved:

For a couple of series I have reached the last volume owned. It is not as great as reaching the last published volume, but it is something nonetheless, and so this series would be temporarily moved from the first list to the second, at least until I manage to made some bookish shopping!

De Castell’s series and Sullivan’s one are amazing, and I am really looking forward to the sequels, I can’t say the same for the one by Archer. I really enjoyed the first book, but this second one was just ok. It wasn’t bad, sure, and I enjoyed it, but… it wasn’t so great. But I am not ready yet to drop the series. I would try at least the third book before deciding about it.

Aside from these books, I have managed to read some other sequels, who aren’t the last volumes, but I am pretty satisfied because since I have started this project (in March) I have checked out 7 other titles. I know that the list is ginormous and that all of this is just a scratch on that, but I am satisfied with myself anyway, I am doing something for my “problem” with the series, and this is the important thing!

I won’t move titles from the second list to the first, at the moment, because I was just approved for a ton on amazing ARCs and so I want to try and prioritize them without adding something new to my plate, but in the next couple of months I think I would move some series around. And I have no doubts that I would start some new ones, too, because I am without shame and out of control, that’s for sure!

And that’s it for today! What about you? How are your doing with your series? And what do you think about the books I mentioned? Let me know!!!

Happy reading!
S.

Amazing progress, especially finishing four series!! And also congrats on dropping series, that can be a hard decision but it can also be so relieving to just admit it’s not for you – gives you more time for other books!

This looks like a lot of great progress! I am kind of low-key always working on this so I track it at the end of each year. My probably is I keep starting new series so I never seem to catch up LOL! Great job!
