Blog Tour: Duckett & Dyer: Dicks For Hire

Hello people! How are you? And how are your reading going? Today I am really excited because I am here with my stop for another great blog tour organized by Storytellers On Tours

So, today I am here with a book that is quite peculiar. If you are interested in weird things happening, time travels, and a pair of interesting characters, well… keep reading!

Title: Duckett & Dyer: Dicks For Hire
Author: G.M. Nair
Publication Date: March 30, 2019
Genre: Science Fiction / Mystery / Comedy
Age Group: Adult

Michael Duckett is fed up with his life. His job is a drag, and his roommate and best friend of fifteen years, Stephanie Dyer, is only making him more anxious with her lazy irresponsibility. Things continue to escalate when they face the threat of imminent eviction from their palatial 5th-floor walk-up and find that someone has been plastering ads all over the city for their Detective Agency.
The only problem is: He and Stephanie don’t have one of those.
Despite their baffling levels of incompetence, Stephanie eagerly pursues this crazy scheme and drags Michael, kicking and screaming, into the fray only to find that they are way out of their depth.
They stumble upon a web of missing people that are curiously linked to a sexually audacious theoretical physicist and his experiments with the fabric of space-time. And unless Michael and Stephanie can put their personal issues aside and fix the multi-verse, the concept of existence itself may, ironically, no longer exist.

So, this was a fun and original reading. And it was weird. Like in weird the literary genre, weird. And it was good! I had a great time reading it, and I devoured it in an afternoon. It was just captivating and, again, fun!

I had some minor issues with the characters, but it was because of personal taste, and nothing to do with their characterization, which was top notch. Michael and Stephanie are the right kind of characters for this story, and they were just so real! The thing is that they were real, and so I felt the urge, time and again, to just scroll Michael, who is just surviving, going on with his life like a log in a river, without taking any decision of consequence and without trying to take control of his life. He is just living. And Stephanie sometimes is really annoying. I am not really complaining, because as I said before they are great and really well done, I think that the author did a great job with them, but they are two characters that I found annoying because I would find annoying people in real life like them. But this is not a fault of the book, and I enjoyed a lot reading of their crazy adventure in the universes!

And the story was just crazy! And fun! And it makes sense, in its warped ways. And it was just so full of absurd, weird things happening, funny gags and ideas, and I loved it! You have to like the weird and the absurd, but if you do, you’ll love this one! There were a lot of things that make me laugh or smile, but I can’t really say anything more, because I would spoil the things for you, and this would just be horrible!

So if you want to read something peculiar, weird (have I said weird yet???) and fun, well, look no more! You have found the right book for you!

and a half!
