Hello people! How are you? And how are your reading going? I’m taking part in a wonderful event dedicated to fantasy, Wyrd and Wonder, and so I have decided to try this new thing: I would write some post to talk about the series that I’m following, or that I want to start, or that I have finished… to be short about it: a post in which I can speak about series! And in May all this kind of post would be fantasy related, obviously!
So… today protagonists will be some series that I have finished in the past and that I have loved, in no particular order.
- Widdershins Adventures by Ari Marmell. I loved this series because Shins and Olgun are great characters, and also the secondary ones are really good. I loved this one, and I am sorry to see that is not a famous one because for me it’s great!!!! So if you are in for a fun reading, with a thief and ancient Gods, that’s the right series to start!
2. The Iron Butterfly by Chandha Hahn. This one is more YA than the previous one, but it was a great reading! It’s fast, full of adventures and with a really good pace. I liked it a lot, even if it’s not perfect. But it was original, even if it remembered me of another series at the time.
3. The Ascendance Trilogy by Jennifer A. Nielsen. This is another YA series, but it was soooo good! And I have a thing for this kind of main characters, so I obviously I liked this series. In some parts is almost like the kid’s version of The Prince of Thorns by Mark Lawrence. Well, this one was better but the Nielsen’s series is good!
4. Paraol Protectorate by Gail Carriger. This series was so much fun! With unique characters and ton of originality between its pages! I loved, loved, loved this series!
5. Santa Olivia by Jacqueline Carey. I love this author, and I love her most famous series a lot. But in this post I want to share with you this duology. In this series, that is not strictly fantasy, to be honest, even if it’s listed as such, the author would make you feel a lot, and I mean a lot! But I loved it from the start to the end, with all the unforgettable characters and all their adventure. If you want to keep your heart safe, beware of this series!
All these series are not classic fantasy, but I am looking forward to write a post about them, too! Another thing that all of them have in common is the characters. All of these books have unforgettable and unique characters! And their world building is also pretty good! So… did you enjoy this kind of post? Do you want to read more of them? And did you know these series? What about them? Let me know!!!
Happy reading!

Thank you! And Soulless is a really fun read! The main character is unique, and I loved her! But she’s not the only one in there that is great! 🙂

I only read The False Prince (and that wasn’t my cup of tea) but I am so curiousl about the Parason Protectorate. I recently got the third one for a cheap price and I hope to get the first two later this year at some point. 🙂
