State of the ARC is a monthly meme at Avalinah’s Books meant to motivate you to finish up all your long overdue ARCs (Advanced or Early Reader Copies). You can track your reading progress and link up with your own post. Most commonly it comes out on the 30th of every month.
Hi everyone! Today I’m really, really excited because this is my first installment… is this the right word? of this meme! I love this idea and I need this, like really, really need this! So here I am, and I hope that this meme would help me get ahead of my ARC pile before it decides to eat me whole!
My Current State of the Arc!
Netgalley- total: 33 ARC
Not due: 18
Overdue, Unread: 9
Read, Review Due: 6
Author- total: 7
Overdue, Unread: 7
Ok, you can see it for yourself, but I have to state the obvious: that’s not good! I have to write a lot of reviews that are due, and I have a lot of books to read, too. I have a long way to go, but I can do it!
Bricks Knocked Down
This month I have read 2 books and posted the review for one of them. Ok, 50% is not bad, right?! And I DNF one and wrote to the author about that. So I have 2 done and one to go, plus all the other reviews that I have to write, but hey… one step at a time! Anyway, the review of Fire and Bone is the one online, so you may know that I liked it, in the end, even if this book gets me confused a lot. It was a rollercoaster, to be honest. And I hope to write soon about 19 Souls because it was a good thriller, not the best ever, sadly, but not bad and I was hooked up pretty quickly by it.
Also, I wrote a review about one of the ARCs I’ve read in December: Killer Fashion.
Let’s get motivated!
Ok, the next month I really hope to do better and write some review… like the one for 19 Souls and at least an overdue review for one of the books I’ve read some time ago. Also I really hope to read these guys, because I am really excited about them!
I know I’ve said this already, but I am really happy to participate in this meme and I really hope it would help me to keep track of my ARCs, and maybe also help me to be more consistent with them and to defeat the overdue pile!
And… have you ARCs to read? Are you always on time? Or you do like me and let them accumulate on their own???
Happy reading!
S.
This one is nice. Thankfully I don’t request much on NetGalley, I request in a way that it stays above 80%.

Oh, you’re good! I usually don’t want to request, I just browse the titles but I don’t know how I always find me requesting something… It may be my bookhoarder self that takes control!

I browse Netgalley a lot but I request books that are releasing 2-3 months after the current date. That way it gives me more than enough time to read the book. And of course 1 or 2 request at a time.

That’s a smart thing to do! I may try it sometimes, even if, knowing myself, it would be hard 😉

It’s tough to stop requesting though

Stop requesting is really hard! but we’ll manage to get down the numbers for overdue review and that would be something, right? 😉

OH you’re doing so good with your arcs Susy! And it’s great you’ve joined this meme! I don’t do it every month but want to participate at least once a quarter. I hope you get to that castle book (too lazy to try to remember the title, sorry) because it looks intriguing!

Thank you! I hope to join every month, but I have to wait and see what I would manage. And that book really seems interesting… I hope to finish my currently reading, because they are dragging a little and start that one! 🙂

I think that this meme is a great way to keep track of all the ARCs and keep you motivated to read and review them. I am lazy and in need of serious motivation to go on! I hope you would join, too! 🙂

Your stats are much better than mine, trust me 🙂 And 2 books are not bad at all. I have over 50 due ARCS 😛 I know!
I hope you can get some time to write the pending reviews 🙂

Well, it seems that we have all the same problems in the end: so many books that capture our attention and so little time to read and review all of them! The life of a bookworm is really a hard one!!!!

Exactly! And still people think that we do nothing?
